Writing a business plan forces what enthusiasm usually avoids: putting numbers to the idea and answering uncomfortable questions. What problem do you really solve, who would pay for it, how much does it cost to reach that customer. The plan's value lies less in the final document than in the decisions it forces you to make while writing it.

A plan has sections that lean on each other: the market shapes the revenue model, and that shapes the financial projections. That is why it pays to fill them in order. This list walks through every essential section, from the problem to the executive summary, so the result is coherent and defensible in front of whoever needs to see it.

The plan's sections

These are the points the template brings, in the order worth filling them:

  • Describe the problem and the solution you propose
  • Define the target market and its size
  • Analyze the competition and your difference
  • Explain the revenue model clearly
  • Detail the marketing and acquisition plan
  • Describe operations and the team
  • Prepare the financial projections
  • Calculate the funding needed to get started
  • Define the main milestones along the way
  • Write the executive summary last

How it works in Foco

On import, Foco creates the "Business plan" job with these sections in the List view, in the order worth tackling so each section leans on the one before. You tick off each section as you close it and see at a glance how much is left to write.

You can attach voice or text notes and ideas for each section as they come to you, assign specific sections to a partner or collaborator, and set dates so the plan does not sit half done for months.
