The weekly shop is one of those things you do on autopilot until you get home and it turns out the one thing missing is exactly what you were going to cook. The crumpled paper note gets lost, the phone note is half finished, and you end up over-buying some things and forgetting others. Keeping a fixed list that you just review and tweak each week avoids both.
This template starts from the basic categories of any supermarket, from produce to frozen food, so you can build the shop in a minute by ticking what you are missing and adding whatever is one-off that week. It works just as well for someone living alone who buys little as for a household where several people note down what runs out.
Sorted by supermarket section
These are the categories the template brings, arranged to move through the store without backtracking:
- Fruit and vegetables
- Milk, eggs and dairy
- Bread and cereal
- Meat and fish
- Beans and pasta
- Cleaning supplies
- Personal care
- Drinks
- Frozen food
- Snacks
How it works in Foco
On import, Foco creates the "Weekly groceries" job with these sections in the List view. You tick items as they go in the cart and leave the ones you already have at home unchecked or delete them. Because the list syncs, if someone at home adds something from their phone it shows up on yours too.
You can set it to repeat weekly so the list rebuilds itself instead of starting from scratch, and add a last-minute item by dictating a voice note while your hands are full.
