Packing list template

The classic travel mistake is never the big stuff, it is the charger, the adapter or that medication you only take now and then. When you pack the night before, half asleep, your head is a poor place to store the list of what you need. A written list is a much better one, because you run through the whole thing instead of trusting your memory.

This template works for any trip, a weekend away or two weeks abroad, by plane or by car. The point is not to pack everything, it is to not leave behind the things that matter: what you cannot easily buy at your destination and what ruins a trip if it is missing, like your documents or clothes that suit the weather. You go through it once while packing and again before you zip the bag.

What you check before you zip the bag

These are the items the template includes:

• ID card and passport, depending on the destination
• Cards and some cash for the first expenses
• Plane or train tickets, on your phone or printed
• Clothes for each day of the trip, checking the forecast
• Comfortable shoes and a spare pair in case they get wet
• Toiletry bag with personal care items in travel sizes
• Chargers and a plug adapter for the country
• Headphones and a book for the trip
• Medication and a basic first aid kit with just the essentials
• Bag for dirty laundry, kept apart from the clean clothes

How it works in Foco

On import, Foco creates the "Packing" workspace with these tasks in the List view, grouped by date. You tick each item as you drop it into your bag and see at a glance what is still missing. You can add a reminder the day before the trip so you do not leave packing until the last minute.

If you travel often, keep this list and set it as recurring, or duplicate it for each trip. With voice notes you can add something while doing something else: you say "buy sunscreen" and Foco captures it as a task, detecting date and priority from what you said.
