A friend recommends a book, you read a review that hooks you, you spot a cover that calls to you, and it all piles up in your memory until, when you finish a read and go looking for the next one, you cannot recall a single title. A reading list solves exactly that: it saves each title the moment it appeals to you, so you always have something to pick from.
Beyond remembering what to read, this template helps you vary. It is easy to stay stuck in the same genre, so it leaves slots for fiction, non-fiction, a classic you keep postponing, a biography, something recommended. And it does not end when you pick the book: noting down quotes you like and writing a review when you finish makes what you read stick far longer.
Your next read, always at hand
These are the items the template includes:
- Choose the next book to read from the list
- Add a fiction book you feel like reading
- Add a non-fiction book to learn something
- Add a book recommended by someone you trust
- Add a classic you keep postponing
- Add a biography of someone who interests you
- Add a book by your favorite author you have not read
- Set how many pages to read a day to make progress
- Note down quotes you like while reading
- Write a review when you finish each book
How it works in Foco
On import, Foco creates the "Reading list" workspace with these tasks in the List view. Swap the names for your real titles and use tags to sort by genre or by whether you already own it. Priority lets you flag the ones you want to read soon over the ones just jotted down.
Each book can carry a text note with the lines you underline and your review when you finish, or a voice note if you prefer to talk it through. Mark the book as done when you finish it and, without meaning to, you will have a record of everything you have read this year.
