Hiring process

Hiring well is, at heart, a follow through problem: good candidates have other options and go cold if you are slow to reply or lose track of where they stand. An orderly process turns an inbox of loose emails into a funnel where every person has a clear stage and an assigned next step.

When the process is not in sight, costly mistakes creep in: profiles forgotten without a reply, interviews run unprepared, offers that arrive too late. This board sorts each candidate through the funnel stages, from application to onboarding, so the team decides with all the information in front of them.

How the funnel flows

Each candidate starts in the first column and only advances to the next once they clear that stage. Seeing the whole funnel at once lets you balance the pipeline: an empty column means you need to source more, a full one means you need to speed up decisions.

Candidates

The mouth of the funnel, where profiles arrive and get filtered before you invest time in them:

• Review the resumes received
• Filter by must have requirements
• Reach out to the shortlist to schedule

Interview

The first real contact with the person, where the profile is tested against the conversation:

• Schedule the first call with the candidate
• Prepare key questions for the role
• Log the notes right afterward

Assessment

The stage where you see the work, not just what is claimed in the interview:

• Send the take home task with a clear deadline
• Review the submission against defined criteria
• Discuss the result with the team

Offer

The moment to win over the chosen candidate and close the terms:

• Prepare the offer with salary and role
• Negotiate terms until you reach agreement

Hired

The close of the process and the start of onboarding:

• Sign the contract
• Plan the onboarding for the first days

How it works in Foco
